Daniel Hope, violin
After last season’s stunning ‘America’ program, master violinist, Daniel Hope, returns with his award-winning project, Journey to Mozart. As the last protégé of legendary violinist Yehudi Menuhin, Daniel Hope will be joined by the ensemble with which Menuhin performed the most, the Polish Chamber Orchestra of Sinfonia Varsovia. Together they will explore the musical period from 1760-1810, before, after and around Mozart’s life—through his violin works, as well as his contemporaries like Gluck and Haydn.
Program to include:
Journey to Mozart
Gluck, “Dance of the Furies” from Orfeo ed Euridice
Haydn, Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in G Major, Hob. VIIa/4
Wojciech Kilar, Orawa
Mozart, Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 3 in G Major, K. 216
Haydn, Symphony No. 49 in F Minor, Hob. I/49, “La Passione”
