Kravis-On-The-Road

Kravis On The Road Bus

For the 12th consecutive school year, Kravis-on-the-Road is taking arts education programming into the classroom and into the lives of many students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience live theatre. The array of top quality performances brings stories to life, celebrates diverse cultures of the world and addresses character education.

Here's how it works:

1. Appropriate community venues are identified by Kravis Education Department staff for Kravis-on-the-Road productions.

2. Public and private elementary and middle schools located in the vicinity of selected venues are invited to attend performances.

3. Order Forms addressed to school Arts Ambassadors are faxed to invited schools. Order Forms must be completed and faxed back to 561-833-9630. Orders are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

4. Teachers will receive Order Confirmations by mail only if their orders have been processed. Unfilled orders are automatically wait listed.

5. A Post-Performance Unit of Study must be submitted to the Kravis Center no later than four weeks following the date of performance.

Admission is free-of-charge for students and chaperones.

Bussing for Palm Beach County public schools is provided by the Kravis Center.

(See the "Transportation Info" link on the top of the S*T*A*R Series page for more information.)

Glenis Redmond stomps, dances, shouts and sings her poetry across the stage! Her poetry traces her own story, beginning with the immediate people in her life. Poems such as “Mama’s Magic” and “Not My Brother” detail not only her love for those close to her, but tell a historical narrative. The etymology of the word tributary appropriately means “one who pays tribute” it also means a “stream that flows into a larger body.” Glenis’ performances of her poetry serve as a poetic link, becoming a small stream of her ancestry; acting as tributary, unknowingly connected to a greater ebb and flow.

Step right up, let’s talk about the virtues! What’s that you say? What’s this virtue thing, anyway? Well, lads and lasses, step right up, spin the Wheel of Virtue and you’re sure to find out! We’ll do a little “character education” with our “characters” to see which virtues they might have and which ones they might need to come by. Now get this! Your students will spin the wheel to decide what stories we tell. So, step right up to meet the famous and the not so famous, the real and not-so-real, the good and not-so-good, as we learn what Virtue Reality is all about.

Everybody’s guaranteed to win … or lose.
